When your case agent requests documents for modification, you will be asked to submit them. A NADRA Card Centre agent will process the paperwork once you have completed all the paperwork. After verifying the NICOP Modification request, your application will be forwarded to NADRA headquarters. You will receive your card at your mailing address after processing your application.

NADRA Modification Process

NADRA has launched a service to allow you to modify your CNIC a little more conveniently in addition to being able to renew your CNIC online.

The process is virtually the same as the one required for renewing a CNIC online. For the modification of their CNIC, applicants must submit an online application. Payment by credit or debit card is required in advance. Once NADRA has processed your CNIC, it will be mailed to the address you provided.

Before you begin the online application, you need to make preliminary preparations.

Make sure you understand how much your NADRA modification online application will cost. All necessary supporting documentation must be provided in your application. Ensure that the portrait photograph you submit meets the requirements outlined in the photo tutorial. Besides a valid credit card or debit card, you will also need one for online payments

• Click on the green Start button at the top of the page to begin using the Pak-Identity Application System.
• Sign up there, then select Modify from the list of available options.
• To complete your application and receive your card by mail, you will need to pay the application fee with your credit/debit card.
• Updating your national identification information is required.
• Scanned photos must be uploaded.
• Scanned and uploaded supporting documents are required.
• A4/Letter-sized fingerprint forms can be downloaded and printed.
• You can use the Fingerprint Tutorial to capture your fingerprints using this form.
• Scan your fingerprints and upload them.
• Grayscale scans must have a resolution of 600 dpi.
• You may modify the printable fields of the Urdu acquisition form if necessary.
• Please download and fill out the witness form if you apply from outside Pakistan. Identify two witnesses and include their contact information. They should both be NICOP holders.
• If applicable, scanned and uploaded forms (with witness information) should accompany the Urdu acquisition form.
• You must sign the form after reviewing your submission.

Following the guidelines provided, please take a Portrait Photo and Fingerprints. All documents must be scanned and submitted. All information must be complete and follow guidelines for processing the application.

Processing and mailing the card to the provided address will take at least 7 business days (at least).

Changing of Last Name: After the Marriage

It is entirely your choice to take your husband's name or keep your family name after marriage. You should carefully consider your options. Please ensure that you are comfortable with the name you choose before making any changes to your record of NADRA modification online. Your time and efforts will be greatly shortened. The process is fairly simple.

You must bring your old nikahnama (Marriage Certificate) if you want the father's name on your old original CNIC. As part of your new CNIC, you will use your new family name and your husband's name instead of your father's. You will get your new passport after the NICOP.

Changing of Last Name: Divorce

Changing your name and getting a CNIC and passport with your father's name must be done in the same way you changed your name after your divorce. The CNIC and passport must be reissued with your old name and your father's name if you receive a divorce/Khula from a court or your spouse pronounces you divorced.

After you accept a divorce decree or divorce deed, you will need to apply for a NADRA CNIC and a passport from the Passport Office over the next few weeks, along with the court order of divorce/divorce deed and the official NADRA confirmation that you have been divorced or you have been granted a divorce deed.

Changing of Name: Other Cases

Furthermore, if you wish to change your child's name before the child reaches the age of majority or turns 18 years old, it will be easy for you. To change your child's name in educational institutions, you need to give an affidavit and obtain a new birth certificate. The only exception is if you are over 18 years old and have a compelling reason for changing your name. 

However, you can change the name if the spelling is incorrect and there is enough proof. However, you must file a lawsuit to change your name. If the state court determines that the name should be changed, the appropriate government will be notified. Alternatively, you can apply to the interior ministry for a name change. It will be published in the official gazette if the church approves the changes.
